The Village of Frisco is located on the southern part of OBX. Its a narrow strip of sand popular for surf fishing, surf boarding, kiteboarding, sailboarding, sunbathers, boaters, campers, RVers, beachcombers as well as history buffs. Only about a six miles stretch off of highway (NC Hwy 12) is typically less crowded even during peak season. This area also allows four-wheel drive vehicles on specified beaches. Just past Frisco is Hatteras Village, it borders Hatteras Inlet, giving boats that dock here an easy and quick route to the Gulf Stream and providing the area with a rich history centered around that inlet and its place in maritime traffic. It has a few small shopping centers and the location of the ferry's to Ocracoke.
